Riyan Parag Couldn't Show Any Impact As Impact Player Against GT
Riyan Parag was given another chance against GT as impact player but he was able to score merely 4 of 6 balls
Riyan Parag Couldn't Show Any Impact: Riyan Parag has shown many times in IPL that he can hit the ball far. He can also finish an innings. His IPL record has shown this, and he has said more than once that he plans to do the same for Team India. He can also ship in with the ball because he spins it sometimes. But in IPL 2023, Parag has looked very out of place.
Even though Rajasthan Royals haven't used his bowling serves, they have counted on him to hit those blazing substitute knocks down the order, but to no avail. On Friday, when RR's game was going badly against Gujarat Titans, he was brought in as an Impact Player, but all he could do was score 4 runs off 6 balls. Fans on social media were very mean to the young man after he failed again in the IPL 2023.
Rajasthan had a lot of faith in Parag when it bought him back at the 2022 mega sale for INR 3.8 crore. He proved them right with a pretty good season, so they kept him for the 2023 season. But the 22-year-old hasn't done much with the bat for RR. In six games, he has only scored 58 runs. Due to a bad run of form, he was taken off the Rajasthan Royals team and wasn't even on the Impact Players list. On April 19, he was the last player to play for the team against Lucknow Super Giants.
On Friday, when RR's games were going badly, Parag, who was on the list of Impact Players, was moved into the main lineup. When the Royals were four down with only 63 runs in the eighth over, he put Yashasvi Jaiswal in at No. 6. This was a last-ditch move. But Rashid Khan got him out in the next over, and he walked back to the dugout having scored only four runs off six balls.
Before the game started, Parag talked to the broadcasters about his training sessions with Zubin Bharucha, a former Indian cricketer who is now the High Performance Director for the Royals. He had been dropped from the team and was now working with Bharucha.
"It's time for me to get back to basics. "I spent some time with Zubin (Bharucha) sir, and in the last five days, I haven't missed a single practice," Parag said. "I've been practicing for long periods of time and getting better at the basics. I'm trying to hit in more places. I usually try to hit straight, but now I'm trying to hit all over the field. Want to keep myself with more choices. For me, it's very clear: I want my team to win games. I'll try to win a game for RR whenever I can, because we only have 5 games left and we need to win three of them to finish in the top two."
