It is India's 77th Independence Day. Indians from all over the country have taken to social media to congratulate fellow compatriots on the occasion. On his official 'X' account, Virat Kohli also wished everyone a joyful Independence Day.

This week, the former Indian captain will complete 15 years in international cricket. He was a man who wore his emotions on his sleeve and represented India with unfathomable fervour. His warrior-like demeanour on the pitch inspires and motivates other to surpass their personal limits.

Virat spoke candidly about the significance of August 15, India's Independence Day, to him. The 34-year-old stated that the fact that his late father was also born on August 15 makes the date even more significant to him.

"Independence Day is the most significant day in our nation's history. Especially considering how it is commemorated in India and all the events surrounding it. It is even more significant to me because it is my father's birthday. It was made more special by the fact that both occasions were commemorated. Virat said in a video shared by Star Sports, "I have many fond memories of Independence Day."

"I am pleased of our nation's accomplishments since independence. On the majority of Independence Days, I have played sports or raised the flag. When the national anthem is played, there is a sense of national pride.

Virat Kohli reflected on his kite-flying days in Delhi on Independence Day, saying, "We used to prepare a lot the night before."On Independence Day, there is a tradition of flying kites in Delhi. Virat revealed that he enjoyed flying kites as a child and described how he and his family would prepare one day in advance.

"In Delhi, it is customary to fly kites during the day, and as a result, this was a significant part of my childhood. We utilised to prepare extensively the night before. "On Independence Day, it was typically breezy in Delhi," Virat stated in the video.

During the Asia Cup, which begins on August 30 with Pakistan playing Nepal in Multan, the legendary batsman will be seen in action.
