'IPL 2023 final fixed?': Viral 'Runner up CSK' image creates chaos
Ahead of the start of the final in Ahmedabad, an image from the venue created a furore on social media showing CSK as runner-up.
IPL 2023 has reached full circle. Two months ago, MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings opened the season against the defending champions Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. On Sunday, the two sides will face off at the same venue in the season's final match, with the prestigious IPL trophy at stake. Chennai will be seeking a record-tying fifth title in their 10th final appearance, while Gujarat will be attempting to perform a CSK by becoming the second team to successfully defend the title.
Prior to the commencement of the final in Ahmedabad, an image from the venue sparked a social media uproar, with many claiming the IPL 2023 final was fixed. It displayed a giantscreen image with the text "Runner-up Chennai Super Kings"
The image quickly went viral on social media, causing concern among CSK supporters and delight among Gujarat Titans enthusiasts. Here are some of the responses...Consequently, a comparable test may have been conducted for the Gujarat Titans team prior to the championship match.
This will be the third meeting between Chennai and Gujarat this season. GT began their title defense with a victory in Ahmedabad, but CSK avenged the loss when they hosted Gujarat at the Chepauk in Qualifier 1 to become the first team to reach the final this season.

Hardik Pandya's squad had to take the long route to the final, which they accomplished with a 62-run victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Friday's Qualifier 2 match. GT have won five of their eight games at the venue this season, with their last loss occurring on May 2 against Delhi Capitals. Since then, they have won three consecutive games.
Last year, Chennai finished ninth in the table after Dhoni relinquished his stewardship to Ravindra Jadeja at the beginning of the season, only to reclaim it in the second half. In 2023, however, the team has achieved a remarkable turnaround, finishing third in the table.
