Ashes 2023: England Playing XI For Fifth Test Announced

England have named their playing XI for the fifth and final Ashes Test, which will take place on July 27 at The Oval. Rain ruined the fourth game in Manchester, resulting in a tie. Day 5 of the Test was completely washed out due to a heavy downpour and a soggy outfield after only a few minutes of play on Day 4.

The two teams will now meet at the Kennington Oval in the fifth and final Ashes Test in 2023. A day before the upcoming Test, England revealed an unchanged playing XI, as the same group of players will face the Australians.

Skipper Ben Stokes had previously stated that there were some 'weary bodies' and that a change in the XI was expected, but to everyone's astonishment, the team has backed all of their players for the next game. Since Australia has maintained the Ashes urn, England will be hoping to finish the series on a strong note in order to maintain their record against the Aussies.

Despite the fact that Ollie Robinson declared himself fit for selection ahead to the Old Trafford Test, the team reintroduced home boy James Anderson. The team appeared to be in great contention to win the game and tie the series, but it was not to be, and the rain proved to be an advantage for Australia.

The visitors have not defeated the hosts in a Test series in England since 2001, and the Ben Stokes-led side will be looking to maintain and extend the streak. On the other side, if Australia can secure a victory or a draw, the series will go down in history.
