The much anticipated ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 will start on October 5 with the defending champions England facing New Zealand in the opening match at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. BCCI and ICC have finalised 10 cities for the World Cup 2023 Venues 

Total of ten teams will compete for the coveted title in the global showcase competition. India (host), New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa are the eight teams with direct qualification and Sri Lanka and Netherland heve qualified through ODI World Cup Qualifiers.

If we look into the history of ODI Cricket World Cup Australia has won the most titles in the competition winning the prestigious trophy five times (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015). West Indies which coud not qualify for World Cup 2023 have won the trophy  team to have claimed the trophy in consecutive years 1975 and 1979.

World Cup 2023: Schedule(Date,Venue and time) 

On October 8 India will play their first match against Australia at  MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in the 13th edition of World Cup. The most thriller match between India and Pakistan will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15. The final match of World Cup 2023 will take place on November 19 in Ahmedabad.

India, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka are the 10 teams playing in this year's tournament. West Indies are a shocking omission after failing to qualify for one of the nine available spotss.

Seven countries including the defending champion England qualified for the tournament based on their performance in the ICC Super League which happened from July 2020 to May 2023.Earlier this year Netherlands and Sri Lanka won the knockout qualification matches to confirm their spots.

World Cup 2023: Prize Money

A total prize pool of USD 10 million has been announced for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup  2023. As per ICC winner of ICC Men's World Cup 2023 will receive USD 4 million of the total prize money pool which is USD 10 million  The runner-up of the Final which, will receive two million dollars.

In addition to prize money for winning their Group Stage matches each winning team will receive USD 40,000. At the end of the Group Stage each team that did not qualify for the knockouts will receive USD 100,000.Here is the complete list of prize money for ICC Men's World Cup 2023.

There will be 10 venues to host the13th edition of the World Cup from Dharamsala in the north to Bangalore and Chennai in the south.

Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad 

The world's largest cricket stadium will host the tournament opener on October 5 and also most thriller India vs Pakistan match on October 14 with the tournament final on November 19.With the capacity of 132,000 it has hosted day-night Test between India and England as well as the last two IPL finals.

Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru

The Chinnaswamy Stadium won't host any World Cup match until 20 October but later on it will host many of the exciting matches.Australia will face Pakistan in the first match which will likely determine the semi-final prospects of both teams.With dimension of approximately 65 meters high scoring matches are expected.

M.A. Chidambaram Stadium Chennai

The stadium will host five matches during the tournament including the opening match between Australia and India on October 8. The final match at this venue will be played between Pakistan and South Africa on October 27, could serve as a springboard for either team's pursuit of the trophy.

Arun Jaitley Stadium Delhi

The wicket has changed a lot from slow surface in cricketing history to modern day high scoring venues. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will face each other on November 6 with the both team having must win match toward the end of the tournament.

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium Dharmsala

The venue have hosted Men's and Women's T20 World Cups which add it to your priority list.With the Himalayas in near distance the ground is relatively small and should host high-scoring matches starting with Afghanistan and Bangladesh on October 7.

Eden Gardens Kolkata 

Prior to the renovation of the Narendra Modi Stadium, Eden Gardens was the largest venue in India with a capacity of 68,000.The ground will not see any match till October 28, but it will host five matches including one of the semi-finals. 

Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium Lucknow

The stadium in Lucknow is relatively on the international stage despite its importance in the Indian Premier League.On October 12 the stage will be set for the Australia vs South Africa match.

Wankhede Stadium Mumbai

Wankhede "cricket capital" will host the second half of the tournament starting from October 21 with England facing against South Africa.The red-soil field will undoubtedly play a huge role in the tournament also in the most semi final semi-final on November 15.

MCA International Stadium Pune

With a capacity of 42,700 spectators venue on the fringes of Pune has hostedInternational matche for more than a decade and will host five matches during the World Cup 2023, including the New Zealand vs South Africa match on November 1.

In the crucial final week of the leauge stage it will host England vs Netherlands and Australia vs Bangladesh on the path to the semi-finals.

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium Hyderabad

With capacity of nearly 40,000 visitors Rajiv Gandhi Stadium will host three matches during the first week of the tournament.Pakistan vs Sri Lanka on 10 October will be pivotal match as both teams reflect on their World Cup journey while Netherlands will also play matches against Pakistan and New Zealand.

Reserve Days

Both semi finals and final of the World Cup 2023 semi-finals will have a reserve day.

If required matches scheduled for reserve days will be played day after their originally scheduled date.
