Jadeja Last Ball 4,CSK Win 5th IPL Trophy
Ravindra Jadeja hit a four off the last ball to lead Chennai Super Kings to their fifth title
Ravindra Jadeja struck a four off the final delivery to help Chennai Super Kings tie the record for most IPL titles held by Mumbai Indians. Sai Sudharsan's 96 off only 47 deliveries propelled Gujarat Titans to a score of 214/4. In his innings, the 23-year-old from Chennai hit eight fours and six sixes, capitalizing on the final overs.
On the same day that Wriddhiman Saha scored 54 off 39, his prolific opening companion Shubman Gill was limited to 39 off 20. Throughout the GT innings, only moderate rain fell, but it did not result in any interruptions. Eventually, the CSK innings was halted after the third delivery of the first over, as heavy rain poured down at the stadium. While the rain did not last long, it was the wet outfield, particularly a problematic practice pitch near the square's perimeter, that caused the greatest delay.
Eventually, the match was shortened to 15 overs, and CSK's target was lowered to 171. Since the match eventually resumed, it has been a back-and-forth affair. Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, and Ambati Rayudu made significant contributions to CSK's victory, but Mohit Sharma provided crucial wickets whenever it appeared that the opposition was racing away with the game. Mohit also bowled the final over, reducing CSK's victory requirement to 10 runs off the final two deliveries. But Ravindra Jadeja ultimately hit the second-to-last ball for six and the final ball for four to guide CSK to their fifth championship.
