Watch: Virat Kohli has fun as Steve Smith calls for chair while batting during IND vs AUS 3rd ODI
Smith’s video of sitting on a chair with an ice pack has been going viral all over social media.
India and Australia are facing in the third and final ODI of the series on Wednesday, September 27 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision was supported by his batsmen including David Warner (34 out of 56), Steven Smith (60 out of 74) and Mitchell Marsh (84 out of 96) who scored half-centuries.
However, the heat from Rajkot seemed to get to Smith's head when a chair had to be brought onto the field after the 28th run of the innings due to a hit by the Australian. A video of Smith sitting on a chair with an ice pack has gone viral on social media. Smith could not continue his innings for long as Mohammed Siraj dismissed him soon after, leaving him trapped in front of the stumps. He also completed five thousand runs in ODIs during his innings. Smith hit a well-made 74 (61) with eight fours and a six to leave Australia at 242/3 after 31.3 overs.
Earlier in the day, David Warner (56 off 34) got his team off to an incredible start, adding 78 runs for the first wicket in 8.1 overs. He hit six fours and four mammoth sixes in his innings to bring India back early. His innings ended in the ninth over when he failed to lift Prasidh Krishna over fine leg on the ramp and ended up taking the ball in the air to wicketkeeper KL Rahul. Watch Warner's dismissal here:
