Rohit Sharma-led side will be taking on struggling Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium on November 2.
Rohit Sharma addressed the media prior to the ODI World Cup 2023 match between India and Sri Lanka. The Indian captain was queried at the conclusion of the press conference regarding his observation of the Sachin Tendulkar statue that was inaugurated at the Wankhede Stadium on November 1.
As usual, Rohit responded to the query as follows: "We did observe it on our way to practice, but it was not visible from a distance. The media manager caused a delay in our practice as well (laughter). Nevertheless, we will have a closer look at it later. "I have yet to determine which shot that is."
"What else is there to say? They have sculpted a statue of a straight lofted shot," he continued. "I hope you all had a good time; we saw the statue, and it's incredible."

On November 2nd, a team led by Rohit Sharma will face Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium. Sri Lanka have been contending with subpar performance thus far in the tournament, which has led to their current position in the lower portion of the table. Sri Lanka are positioned seventh on the points tally with a mere two victories in as many matches ( six). Their odds of qualifying for the semi-finals are extremely remote.
In contrast, India are currently leading the table with 12 points after six matches. India has collected victories by significant margins, resulting in a favorable net run rate of +1.405. In spite of Hardik Pandya's injury, India appears capable of confronting any opponent in the tournament. Mohammed Shami's nine wickets in two matches thus far have demonstrated the tremendous depth of India's squad.
