BCB announces Tk 35 lakh bonus for women's team after series against India
The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced cash bonus of Tk 35 lakh for the women's after their successful ODI series against India.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a Tk 35 lakh cash incentive for the women's team on Sunday, July 23, following their successful ODI series against India Women. Notably, Bangladesh, commanded by Nigar Sultana, tied India 1-1 in the three-match ODI series.
BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon declared a cash reward for the women's team after they defeated the Women in Blue in the first ODI and won the match. After the conclusion of the series, the BCB president praised the performance of Bangladesh's first century-maker, Fargana Hoque, and decides to divide the extended bonus. Moreover, he added that the support personnel of the women's team will also be appropriately compensated.
The Daily Star quoted Nazmul Hassan Papon as saying, "Normally we give bonuses when we win a series, but since we won our first ODI against India and there were a few individual performances like Fargana Hoque scoring a century, we decided to give Tk 25 lakh to the players."
"We will also award a bonus of Tk 2 lakh to the player who scored a century and to the other cricketers individually," I believe the total amount of bonuses, including bonuses for the coaching personnel, will be approximately Tk 35 lakh," he added.
It is noteworthy that Fargana Hoque was named player of the series for her outstanding batting performances. The batter scored 27, 47, and 107 runs, respectively, in the three ODIs played against India.
The President of the BCB evaded a query about poor umpiring by citing the rules of the game.
In addition, the BCB president commented on the controversial comments made by India captain Harmanpreet Kaur after the conclusion of the competition. Harmanpreet voiced her displeasure with the umpiring standards and destroyed the stumps when she was dismissed during the match.

"Cricket is a sport whose rules and regulations are well-known and whose events have been witnessed by the entire globe. Therefore, we have nothing to say because there are laws and regulations that will imply themselves. There are a match referee and umpires, and the ICC will take the necessary measures, so we have nothing to add. However, I am pleased to report that our ladies did not engage in such behaviour," he added.
