Star Sports has secured the television media rights for the upcoming season of the Lanka Premier League, which is scheduled to begin on July 30 and continue through August 21. In India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, and the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, including the UAE, Star Sports will be the tournament's official broadcaster.

The addition of the LPL bolsters Star sporting' already impressive cricketing lineup, which includes the ICC, Indian Premier League, and Indian Super League, among other premier international and domestic sporting properties.

According to Sri Lanka Cricket, Anil Mohan Sankhdhar, Founder and CEO of IPG Group, the official rights holder of the LPL, stated, "With committed stakeholders like Star Sports, we are very excited to offer the global cricketing audience a chance to witness an extremely competitive and captivating brand of T20 cricket."

"We appreciate this intriguing partnership with LPL. According to a Star Sports representative, the competition has attracted a large fan base across the subcontinent and the Middle East and North Africa.

The LPL 2023 is anticipated to be a highly competitive tournament featuring internationally renowned players such as Babar Azam, Shakib Al Hasan, and David Miller, as well as popular Sri Lankan players Thisara Perera, Wanindu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews, and captain Dasun Shanaka. Colombo and Kandy will host matches, adding to the intensity of the event.

The agreement between Star Sports and the LPL guarantees that cricket fans in the aforementioned regions will have exclusive access to live coverage of the exhilarating matches as well as unparalleled non-live cricket content.

With five teams—Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Aura, Galle Titans, Jaffna Kings, and B-Love Kandy—vying for the coveted title, the LPL 2023 promises to be a month-long cricket extravaganza.
