This was not the first time, when Warner turned into a right-hander, having done that on a few occasions in the past.

Watch: David Warner bats right-handed against R Ashwin at Indore

David Warner was observed batting right-handed in the second ODI between India and Australia in Indore. Chasing a mammoth total of 399, the visiting team needed a strong start, but they lost two key wickets in the second over, Matthew Short and Steven Smith, and were obviously on the back foot.

Warner, on the other hand, was much more at ease and changed his hands to play in the middle. Notably, this was not the first time Warner switched to a right-handed batting stance; he had done so in the past.

He ultimately got going and completed his fifty against India, but was dismissed shortly thereafter by Ashwin, who bowled him leg before wicket. However, replays revealed that Warner had edged the ball, but he chose not to challenge the call and was dismissed for 53 off 39.

Almost immediately thereafter, the veteran Indian spinner took the wicket of Josh Inglis, and Australia lost their fifth wicket in the middle. Ashwin, on the other hand, appeared outstanding and will be hoping to secure his spot in the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to commence on October 5 in Ahmedabad.

Suryakumar Yadav excels with the bat, while Ravichandran Ashwin outclasses Australia with the delivery

In the absence of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, Indian batters utterly dominated the Australian quicks in the first innings. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer each scored a century to decimate the visiting team, while Suryakumar Yadav scored 72* runs off 37 deliveries to help India score 399 runs. Australia's bowlers appeared clueless on the Indore pitch, which significantly favored the batters.

Other than Ashwin, Suryakumar was also under duress. He was heavily criticized for being selected for the World Cup despite his inability to perform in ODI cricket. However, the team management, led by captain Rohit Sharma, had a great deal of confidence in him and his abilities, which helped India win the second game of the series. As a consequence, India now holds an insurmountable lead (2-0) over Australia.
