Why Stuart Broad announced sudden retirement ? Check out reason

Stuart Broad has been by far England's finest bowler in the current Ashes. During the fourth Test in Manchester, he joined the 600-wicket club in Test cricket, bringing his career total to 600.

After the conclusion of the fifth Ashes Test in London, the 37-year-old proclaimed his retirement from Test cricket, which stunned the cricketing community. The revelation was made immediately following the conclusion of Day 3's action. Broad explained that he was uncertain about the decision, but after speaking with captain Ben Stokes the night before, he gained clarity.

"I informed Stokesy last night and the hotel room this morning. Sincerelly, it simply felt like the perfect time. I mean, I gave it a lot of thought, and even as late as eight o'clock last night, I wasn't 100 percent positive, but I was on the fence," Broad told Sky Sports.

"But once I went to Stokes's room and told him, I've been feeling really happy and content with everything I've accomplished in the game, and the decision came down to the fact that I knew I wanted to leave the game loving cricket and with fond memories of a fun changing room."

Ben [Stokes] truly comprehended the decision: Stuart Broad

The veteran pacer was questioned as to whether Stokes had requested him to reconsider the decision. Stuart Broad stated that the renowned all-rounder was aware of his decision's rationale. He also implied that he would not reconsider his retirement decision.

"Ben, unbeknownst to you, really grasped the decision. Actually, I hadn't spoken much about it. I had not told him beforehand, but I wanted to ensure that he was aware. I possessed a clear consciousness. I had no intention of engaging in a negotiation. Before mentioning it to anyone, I needed it to be crystal clear," Broad added.

Broad still has work to do with the bat and ball in England's ongoing fifth Test. He weathered a few deliveries in the final session of Day 3 and will bat alongside James Anderson on Day 4. The last-wicket partnership will attempt to add to the already formidable 377-run lead.
