Shubman Gill has replaced ace Pakistan batter Babar Azam for the number 1 spot in the late ODI rankings.
Significant progress has been made in the ICC Men's ODI batter rankings as renowned Indian batsman Shubman Gill has supplanted seasoned Pakistan batsman Babar Azam at number one. Gill came to prominence as a result of his performance during the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Moreover, in addition, he joined Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli as the only Indians to attain the No. 1 ODI batsman ranking. Team India has been in fine form thus far in the ODI World Cup 2023, with Gill having amassed 219 runs in six innings. Babar's reign at the top of the rankings came to an end after more than two years, as his position was affected by a six-point decline in the rankings.
At the moment, Gill holds the highest position with 830 rating points, followed by Babar Azam in second place with 824 points. Virat Kohli, an experienced Indian batsman, has surged three positions and is now in fourth place with 770 points. In the rankings, Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer rose by 17 positions to 18th, while Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman rose by three positions to 11th.
