GT vs RR IPL 2023 Highlights: In the first half of the Indian Premier League 2023, Rajasthan Royals exacted revenge on Gujarat Titans after losing all three matches against them in 2022, including the championship. On Friday, however, in the second meeting between the two teams this season, the defending champions recorded a decisive victory.
At the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, GT defeated RR by nine wickets on the strength of an outstanding bowling performance. Rajasthan was bowled out for 118 in 17.5 overs, while Gujarat scored 119/1 in 13.5 overs to move three points ahead at the summit of the standings.
At 47/1 after five overs, RR were in a favorable position. However, it was all GT from then on. From 60/2 to 96/8 in seven overs, the entire middle order of RR perished for a total of 36 runs.
Everything began with the early dismissal of Jos Buttler. When the English opener is performing well, RR are a distinct animal. Last year, he scored the most runs in the tournament, surpassing KL Rahul by a wide margin. He began this season with three half-centuries in four innings. However, in the six innings since, he's only managed 93 runs with two outs. On Friday, he hit consecutive fours off Hardik Pandya before being caught at short third on the next delivery.
As soon as the in-form Jaiswal was driven out due to a mix-up with Samson, GT realized they had a tremendous opportunity. Next, Samson's dismissal was a familiar one for anyone who had followed his career: scintillating strokes were followed by the gentlest dismissal.
Just 41 balls into the contest, three of Rajasthan's top batsmen had been dismissed. The centerpiece of the competition, however, was about to commence: an irresistible spell by the Afghan duo Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad.
R Ashwin, who was elevated to No. 5, was defeated twice before being dismissed by a leg-spinner from Rashid Khan. It was an elegant setup with a devastating knockout punch. Riyan Parag was trapped in front by a delivery that twisted in the opposite direction.
After RR had lost 50 percent of their team within 10 overs, Ahmad joined the celebration. The left-arm wrist spinner knocked over Devdutt Padikkal's off stump before dismissing the dangerous Dhruv Jurel. Eventually, Khan eliminated Shimron Hetmyer leg-before to secure RR's doom.
All five wickets taken by Khan (3/14) and Ahmad (2/25) resulted from batsmen attempting defensive shots and being duped. It was an unforgettable display of spin bowling by the natives.

As the pitch contained no genuine demons, RR's only option with the ball was to go for wickets. They needed early goals to have a chance, but sadly for the home supporters, this was not the case.
Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha consistently hit boundaries and compiled a 71-run opening partnership. Gill was stumped by Yuzvendra Chahal in the tenth over, but Pandya blasted three sixes and a four off Adam Zampa in the next over as GT won with 37 balls remaining.
