Jasprit Bumrah Provides Major Injury Update
Jasprit Bumrah had missed IPL this year due to injury and is likely to return by World Cup later this year.
Fans of the Mumbai Indians were ecstatic when the franchise acquired Jofra Archer at the conclusion of the auction last year, as it meant that the great English fast bowler would be paired with Jasprit Bumrah. However, injuries to both athletes prevented this potentially lethal partnership from materializing for India.
While Archer played six matches, it was previously announced that Bumrah would miss the IPL due to his ongoing back concerns, which have prevented him from playing since September 2022. Among the tournaments he has missed for India thus far are the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup from the previous year. In both tournaments, India failed to capture the championship, and in the IPL, the Mumbai Indians lost in the second Qualifier to the Gujarat Titans and were eliminated from contention.
Bumrah has now indicated that he may be returning. "Hello friend, we meet again," he wrote alongside a photo of his embellished shoes on Instagram. The circumstances surrounding Bumrah's rehabilitation from his injuries have been rather murky. His last match was a Twenty20 International against Australia on September 25, 2017.

He had missed the Asia Cup the month prior and appeared to have recovered sufficiently to rejoin the Indian squad as they began bilateral T20I series in preparation for the T20 World Cup. However, he was forced to withdraw before their series against South Africa and ultimately missed the T20 World Cup.
Bumrah was added to India's squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka in January, prior to the home Test series against Australia. However, he was ultimately removed, and it was later announced that he would also miss the Test series and IPL.
