Sachin Tendulkar's Chat With Shubman Gill Goes Viral

When Sunil Gavaskar retired, the cricket world pondered, "Who's next?" and Sachin Tendulkar emerged to dominate the sport. In the twilight of his career, the subject resurfaced, and Virat Kohli stepped forward. And although the Run Machine is far from leaving the sport, his apparent successor has arrived.
Earlier in the week, Shubman Gill surpassed Kohli's century with his game-winning century, and on Friday, in the presence of the legendary Sachin, he blasted his third century in IPL 2023. And despite the fact that in both instances the two veteran stars suffered heartbreaks, there was undoubtedly a smile and some admiration at the prospect of a young player taking the cricket world by storm.
This year has been Gill's. He entered this season's IPL on the heels of his first T20I century in January, a Test hundred in the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia in February, and a record ODI double century in between.
The 23-year-old then continued his superb form in IPL 2023, scoring his first century at his beloved Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, followed by a second in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnasamy Stadium, and his third, in just four innings, in the Qualifier 2 match against Mumbai Indians, achieving a number of milestones along the way.
The total of 129 off only 60 balls is now the highest ever scored in the IPL playoffs by a batter. The run also brought his season total to 851, making him the second Indian batsman after Kohli to score 800 or more runs in a season, while his aggregate total is now the third-highest.
Following the game against MI, in which Gill was awarded the Player of the Match award for his record knock as GT cruised to a second consecutive final with a 62-run victory in Ahmedabad, the opener was observed having an impassioned conversation with the MI team's coach, Sachin. The image quickly went viral on all social media platforms.

For me, it is a never-ending game of ball against ball. The over in which I scored three sixes gave me the impetus to score heavily. Then I realized it could be my lucky day. "It was also a good batting wicket," said Gill during the post-game presentation.
Chennai Super Kings will now face GT in the IPL 2023 final on Sunday at the same venue.
