PCB Chief Zaka Ashraf makes shocking statements after ICC meeting

During a recent meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Zaka Ashraf, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), conferred with Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He disclosed that the ICC deducted the revenue of other member nations while increasing the BCCI's, despite Pakistan's income share doubling.

He continued by stating that he had requested the revenue calculation from the ICC chairman, but that he was informed that former PCB chairman Najam Sethi was aware of the same information.

"During a meeting with Jay Shah and other board members, I insisted that we advance international cricket together. Together, I believe we will be stronger. This time, our revenue-sharing with the ICC increased by twofold. However, they deducted the shares of other nations and increased India's, prompting us to take a stand.

I also cast the deciding vote, stating that India's revenue-sharing increase had not been calculated. They stated that they had given Najad Sethi the calculations. I informed them that I had confirmed with him and he did not have it. "However, the ICC chairman insisted on two separate occasions that they had shared all the calculations with Mr. Sethi and that he had agreed to them all," Ashraf told Geo Super.

In recent years, the BCCI has strengthened its global reputation as a visionary board. Dhumal Arun Dhumal, chairman of the Indian Premier League and BCCI's representative in the Chief Executives Committee (CEC), subsequently stated in a statement that under Jay Shah, the BCCI has strengthened its global reputation as an innovative organisation.

"In recent years, the BCCI has strengthened its global reputation as a visionary board under the shrewd leadership of Jay Shah in the pantheon of cricket, wherein the BCCI has led by example, whether it be the WPL, pay parity for women, or the globalisation of the sport with the IPL.

"It was therefore only a question of time before the ICC, the global governing body for cricket, acknowledged its contributions to the sport. "The BCCI wishes to express its gratitude and appreciation to the ICC for approving the revised revenue-distribution model at the ICC's annual general meeting in Durban," said Dhumal.
