BCCI considering Dubai for IPL 2024 auction
No official notification has been sent to the franchises as yet, but the reports suggest that Dubai could be the venue for the IPL auction.
Dubai has served as the venue for several Indian Premier League (IPL) fixtures thus far. Dubai is being considered by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as the auction venue for IPL 2024.
The richest cricket governing body in the world has reportedly finalized the auction schedules for December 15–19, as reported by Cricbuzz. The WPL auction is scheduled to take place several days before the IPL auction. December 9 is the tentative date for the WPL auction. The WPL was conducted in Mumbai the year prior. Although the location of the 2024 WPL season has not yet been determined, India is a plausible contender.
Although the franchises have not yet received an official announcement, reports indicate that Dubai may serve as the location for the IPL auction. The BCCI had originally intended to conduct the IPL auction in Istanbul the year before, but it was ultimately relocated to Kochi. The teams have been notified that Dubai is currently under evaluation as a possible location for the auction.
IPL 2024: Trading window already started
During the current IPL trading window period, teams have the liberty to exchange individuals. Nonetheless, there have been no reports of player exchanges to date.
In the interim, the BCCI has not yet communicated the venue and dates for the second season of the five-team WPL to the franchise proprietors. International obligations prevent the Indian women's team from commencing until mid-January; therefore, the WPL is not anticipated to commence until February.
The franchises are also awaiting word on whether, similar to the IPL, WPL 2024 will be played in a single city or on a home-and-away basis. The BCCI is extremely preoccupied with ensuring that the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 is an unforgettable event. The pinnacle match of the marquee competition is scheduled to occur in Ahmedabad on November 19.
