DC vs RCB Highlights: Salt Guide DC To Win Over RCB By 7 Wickets
Philip Salt smashed 87 of 45 balls which helped DC to chase down the 182 target posted by RCB easily.
DC vs RCB Highlights: Saturday evening at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground was perfect for cricket enthusiasts in Delhi. They applauded each boundary hit by local boy Virat Kohli (55, 46 balls, 5x4) for Royal Challengers Bangalore before witnessing Delhi Capitals easily reach their target of 182 with seven wickets remaining and 20 deliveries remaining.
Phil Salt's sensational 87 (45b, 8x4, 6x6) paved the way for Delhi's fifth victory of the season despite their ninth-place position in the standings. The innings of the England wicketkeeper for Delhi absolutely eclipsed the efforts of Mahipal Lomror (54 not out, 29 balls, 6 fours, 3 sixes) and Kohli for RCB. Even though Kohli struck his sixth fifty of the season, his strike rate of 119.56 is cause for concern.
At the conclusion of the powerplay, Delhi had a run-chase odds of 70/1. Delhi began the run pursuit at full throttle. The opening stand between Warner and Salt was worth 60 runs, with both players demonstrating a ruthlessness that has been lacking from their batting this season.
Salt was particularly impressive, as his aggressive strokeplay forced Mohammed Siraj, the in-form pacemaker, to depart from his usually impeccable lengths. Salt began the fifth over by hitting a short delivery over the wicketkeeper for six. Siraj then pitched the ball with more pace, but he met the same fate as Salt, who found extra cover.
The next action was a stroke toward square leg for four. It led to a heated exchange between the two players in the centre of the field until RCB captain Faf du Plessis intervened to restore order. Despite Warner's dismissal in the sixth over, Salt and Mitchell Marsh continued the assault with 59 runs off 32 balls.
With 126 runs and two wickets in 12 overs, Delhi was well positioned for victory. Salt and Rilee Rossouw blasted medium-pacer Harshal Patel for 24 runs in one over, including three sixes, effectively sealing the outcome.
RCB got off to a strong start after electing to bat, due to an opening stand of 82 runs between du Plessis and Kohli in 63 balls. RCB had scored only 23 runs through the first four overs, but du Plessis sparked the innings with three fours off seamer Mukesh Kumar in the fifth over. He then struck Khaleel Ahmed for consecutive fours and sixes, demonstrating exactly why he leads the season's run-scoring charts.
Kohli, who initially dominated the strike, was content to play second fiddle to the South African as the partnership progressed.

Marsh's victims of du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell off successive deliveries in the 11th over provided some relief for Delhi. Marsh, who had missed the previous game due to illness, was able to catch du Plessis in deep cover off a slower ball before finding Maxwell's outside edge.
Despite the brief reprieve, the Delhi bowlers continued to concede runs. While Kohli reached his fifty off 42 deliveries, much to the delight of the vociferous Delhi crowd, Lomror's assault may have surprised the hosts. On Saturday, Lomror demonstrated that he has not yet reached his maximum potential despite the fact that the RCB's middle order has rarely produced this season — a top-heavy batting unit has been a recurring flaw across the 16 editions. However, it did not prove sufficient in the end.
