Mumbai Indians pick MI-WIN combined XI of Caribbean stars
Mumbai Indians have announced a combined XI of Caribbean stars who represented them not only in IPL but also in SA20, ILT20 and MLC respectively.
After winning the inaugural season of Major League Cricket (MLC), the MI franchise announced a combined playing XI comprised of West Indies players who have represented them in Twenty20 cricket around the world. Notably, numerous Caribbean superstars have represented the franchise since 2008. In addition to the Indian Premier League, the SA20, ILT20, and MLC, respectively.
Kieron Pollard will lead the Mumbai Indians (MI) as captain, while Nicholas Pooran, who was in charge of the squad for a significant portion of the MLC, will keep wickets. In contrast, the openers are Evin Lewis and Lendl Simmons. Notably, Lewis scored two magnificent centuries for the franchise in 2017 and 2019. Simmons, meanwhile, was instrumental in the franchise's IPL titles in 2015 and 2017.
The franchise designated Dwayne Smith as its number three player. The former West Indies international has amassed 945 runs in three years. Smith was instrumental in assisting the team win both the Indian Premier League and the Champions Trophy in 2013.
In IPL 2023 Kieron Pollard assumed the batting coach hat for the Mumbai Indians
Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, and Dwayne Bravo are the fourth, fifth, and sixth batters on the list, respectively. Notably, Pollard is regarded as one of the MI franchise's legends. He has been phenomenal for the team, helping them achieve five IPL championships and the MLC in 2023. Notably, prior to the 2023 IPL season, Pollard was also appointed the team's batting coach.
Bravo represented the franchise for a very brief period of time, but the relationship remains strong. In 33 matches played for the franchise, he has accumulated 508 runs and 30 wickets.
The eleven remaining participants are Sherfane Rutherford, Fabien Allen, Alzarri Joseph, Jerome Taylor, and Krishmar Santokie. Intriguingly, Joseph's remarkable 6-12 debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2019 will be remembered eternally.
