Watch: Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly avoid greeting each other following RCB-DC clash
Ganguly was the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) when Kohli was stripped of the captaincy of the Indian cricket team.
Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Delhi Capitals by 23 runs in their most recent Indian Premier League 2023 match on Saturday, April 15. Virat Kohli excelled once more as he scored the highest run total for Bangalore (50 off 34 balls) and was named the match's MVP. However, after the game, Kohli drew the attention of spectators by refusing to shake hands with Delhi Capitals' advisor Sourav Ganguly during the team handshake. Ganguly appeared uninterested in greeting Kohli as the two cricketers avoided interaction.
According to reports, a fissure exists between two former Indian captains. Ganguly was President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) when Kohli was relieved of his captaincy. Later, the pair issued contradictory statements, which fueled rumors of a schism between them during Ganguly's tenure.
Kohli first shook palms with the head coach of the Delhi Capitals, Ricky Ponting, before the two engaged in a brief conversation. In the meantime, Ganguly walked past the pair without shaking hands with Kohli. Kohli made no effort to halt Ganguly, and instead proceeded to shake hands with Ajit Aagarkar.
Bangalore posted a challenging total while batting first at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, as Kohli maintained his red-hot form with his third half-century in four innings in the IPL 2023. Manish Pandey's fifty-run knock kept Delhi's pursuit alive despite the failure of their top-order batsmen. Vyshak Vijaykumar took three wickets for 20 runs in his IPL debut, while Mohammed Siraj claimed two wickets to limit Delhi's total to 151 for 9.
