Why Bismah Maroof opts out of Asian Games ?

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has declared that Bismah Maroof would not compete in the 2022 Asian Games, which will be held in Hangzhou, China, in September. The former Pakistan captain backed out of the competition due to the 'No Children Rule' at the venue. Notably, on July 25, Pakistan announced a 15-man roster for the event, led by Nida Dar.

Tania Mallick, Head of Women Cricket, claimed that Pakistan's participation in the Asian Games will be an unforgettable experience. She went on to say that the players have shown incredible dedication and skill, and they now have a chance to make history by winning the title for the third time. Pakistan's women's team, in particular, won gold medals in the previous two seasons, in 2010 and 2014.

"Participating in the Asian Games is an exciting experience for our team." It's not just about the competition; it's also about camaraderie, sportsmanship, and proudly representing your country. "Our players have demonstrated incredible dedication and skill, and now they have a golden opportunity to make history by winning the coveted title for the third time," Mallick was cited on the PCB website as saying.

Mallick further acknowledged that Maroof's services will be missed by the Pakistan team because she would not have been allowed to accompany her infant daughter to the tournament village according to rules. She also wished Ayesha Naseem well after she retired from cricket after appearing in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.

"The team is disappointed to have missed out on Bismah Maroof's services for this event because she would not have been able to accompany her infant daughter to the Games village due to the regulations in place." We also wish Ayesha Naseem the best of luck in her future aspirations, as the PCB understands and appreciates her choice to retire from the game for personal reasons," Mallick added.
