"Any Indian would have responded as I did"

Gambhir stated that he was troubled by certain Pakistan cricket team supporters. Gambhir took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to discuss his controversial gesture during the continental tournament. "A lie can circumnavigate the globe while the truth is lacing its shoes." Everything is not as it appears. Any other Indian would react similarly to the slogans used against our country. I adore our players and my country, said Gambhir.

Speaking to the news agency ANI during India's match against Nepal, Gambhir claimed that some Pakistani supporters chanted anti-Indian chants as the former India opener exited the field. "There is no truth in social media content because individuals post whatever they want to post. There were two or three Pakistanis present who made anti-India and Kashmir-related statements. Therefore, it was my natural response. I cannot tolerate any criticism of my country. That was my response," Gambhir concluded.
