Watch: Baba Aparajith gets into heated argument with umpire
The situation heated as Aparajith engaged in a verbal exchange with both the umpires and members of the rival team
The on-field umpire gave veteran cricketer Baba Aparajith out during the ongoing Tamil Nadu Cricket Association Division 1 match. Notably, the incident occurred in the 18th over of Jolly Rovers CC vs. Young Stars Cricket Club's match. Aparajith attempted to defend Hari Nishaanth's delivery, but the ball turned square and struck his pad, while the fielder at short leg dove straight down to collect it.
The fielding team immediately appealed, and the umpire was ultimately persuaded and raised his finger to signal out. The cricketer lost his temper and became involved in an argument with the umpire and opposing team members at that point. In the meantime, replays revealed that the ball did not strike his bat and was travelling outside his leg when it struck his padding. Therefore, Aparajith was exceedingly dissatisfied with the decision and had a lengthy argument with the umpire before returning to the locker room.
Notably, Aparajith has participated in 250 domestic matches and scored 9478 runs to date. He has also amassed 139 wickets. He was also a member of the Indian team that won the U19 World Cup in Australia in 2012. Aparajith contributed significantly to India's victory in the competition by scoring 171 runs over the course of six encounters.
The cricketer was part of Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiant in the IPL, but he never made his tournament debut. Aparajith participated in 60 limited-overs matches, accumulating 1139 runs at a strike rate of 109.51. However, when it comes to the longest format of the game, Aparajith has been a force to be reckoned with, as one of the most dependable players in the squad, and has earned the Tamil Nadu team numerous accolades.
