India's WTC 2023-25 Schedule
India will start their WTC 2023-25 cycle with two Tests against West Indies, which will take place from July 12.
Team India completed the 2021-23 cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) on top of the standings, but fell short in the championship match. India, which last claimed an International Cricket Council (ICC) trophy in 2013, had high hopes for this year's competition. The Rohit Sharma-led team was defeated by Australia in the WTc final on June 11 at The Oval in London, marking India's second consecutive failure in the championship match.
Team India invited Pat Cummins and co. to bowl first after winning the toss. Australia scored 469 runs in their first innings thanks to centuries by Travis Head and Steve Smith, indicating that the Indian bowlers failed to impress. In contrast, India scored only 296 points in their first innings.
On the fourth day of the one-off Test, Australia declared their second innings at 270/8 in their second innings. In pursuit of a 444-run target, India batters once again labored with the bat and were bowled out for 234 runs.
In the inaugural WTC final in Southampton in 2021, India faced New Zealand. India was dismissed for 217 and 170 runs in their two innings. In contrast, the Black Caps advanced to an eight-wicket victory despite being dismissed for 249 runs in their first innings.
