Rohit Sharma gives freedom to all the players: Ajinkya Rahane
Rahane also added saying that he has worked on a few aspects of his game and thus, he is ready for the next Test cycle.
Ajinkya Rahane is optimistic about performing well in the impending two-match Test series against the West Indies as a result of his brilliant performance in the World Test Championship Final. The cricketer has been appointed vice-captain of the side in the longest format and will therefore work closely with the team management, as India are anxious to perform well in this cycle of the World Test Championship and win the trophy at Lord's in 2025.
While discussing playing under Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Rahane stated that the Indian opener provides a great deal of freedom to all the players, and thus there is a great deal of room for individual expression in the middle.
"The WTC final was the first game I played under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Rohit provides freedom to all of the players, which are qualities of a great captain, Rahane was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
He also praised Yashasvi Jaiswal, the novice who is expected to replace Cheteshwar Pujara in the team. Notably, the UP-born cricketer had a phenomenal season with Mumbai in domestic cricket and also performed admirably with Rajasthan Royals in the recently concluded IPL. Rahane, Jaiswal's domestic captain, is therefore confident that Jaiswal will also succeed for India.
"First and foremost, I am ecstatic for him (Jaiswal). He possesses a great deal of talent. He has excelled in both domestic cricket for Mumbai and the Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals. Specifically, his performance with the crimson ball. Last year, he performed well in the Duleep Trophy. His numbers are quite impressive. My advice to him will be to focus on his batting and not worry too much about international cricket. "It's all about taking the field and playing your game," said the 35-year-old.

Rahane added that he has worked on a few aspects of his game and is therefore prepared for the upcoming Test cycle. In the absence of Pujara, the Mumbai-born cricketer will have a great deal of responsibility, as India's batting lacks a bit of experience, as Gill, KS Bharat, and Jaiswal are all making their debuts.
