Adam Milne gets ruled out of ODI series against England
Ben Lister, a left-armer, will now join the squad in Southampton as a replacement for Milne.
Due to a minor groin injury, New Zealand pacer Adam Milne has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series against England. On September 10, the second one-day international of the four-match series will be played at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in Southampton.
The 31-year-old experienced hamstring tightness while training in Cardiff prior to the team's September 8 opener. A subsequent scan revealed that he required rehabilitation. Since he has also been selected for the ODI squad for the Bangladesh tour, he will remain in England with the team to continue his recovery.
Ben Lister, a left-arm bowler, will now replace Milne in the Southampton roster. The 27-year-old is currently in England, where he has signed a contract to play for Kent County Cricket Club in the remaining County Championship games of the current season.
Due to the compressed nature of the schedule, New Zealand coach Gary Stead emphasized the importance of having a strong bench. He is confident that Lister and the other veteran players will contribute to the success of the team.
"With the upcoming schedule, we have short turnarounds between these matches and want to look after the players as much as possible. Ben was already in England, so he was able to join the team without the recovery time required for a bowler joining mid-series from New Zealand.
Ben impressed us in the United Arab Emirates and in England's warm-up matches, and he will continue to grow as a result of his exposure to senior players in the touring group, Stead was quoted as saying by New Zealand Cricket.
