Meg Lanning left out, Alyssa Healy named captain for West Indies series
Meg Lanning was excluded as the team was declared for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against West Indies
Alyssa Healy will lead Australia Women in six white-ball matches against the West Indies. Regular captain Meg Lanning, who was ruled out of the Ashes in May due to medical considerations, continues to miss out and will likely return via domestic cricket.
The squads for the three-match ODI and T20I series are identical, with the exception of Grace Harris being replaced by Alana King in the ODIs. Ellyse Perry, who along with Healy missed the final ODI against Ireland due to injury, also returns.
Dr. Pip Inge, the doctor for the Australian Women's Cricket Team, stated, "Meg's condition is improving, but she is still unable to play competitive cricket." "There is no set date for Meg's return to play, but we envisage a gradual return via domestic cricket.
"CA medical staff will continue to work closely with Meg, and an update on her availability will be provided in due course."National selector Shawn Flegler stated, "Although Meg is currently unavailable for selection, she remains an integral part of our team, and we'll continue to support her throughout her return to play program."
