'Will never admit that Rohit can go out of form': Murali Kartik

When they face the Lucknow Super Giants in the elimination match on Wednesday night, the Mumbai Indians will be attempting to remain in contention for the final spot in the 2023 Indian Premier League. After winning their final league game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on the final day of the league phase, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who were also in the chase for a playoff spot, lost to Gujarat Titans in their final game.

Rohit Sharma's form has been a source of concern for MI supporters. Rohit has scored 313 runs in 14 matches thus far in the current edition; while he did not have a strong start to the season, his recent performances have given fans optimism for the opener's return to run-scoring. In the previous match, Rohit scored 56 runs off only 37 deliveries as MI chased down a 201-run target with two overs remaining.

Prior to MI's eliminator match against LSG, former India spinner Murali Kartik made a significant remark about Rohit's batting, stating that he would never concur that Rohit could be "out of form."

"I will never concede that Rohit Sharma can lose form. I've stated a thousand times that it never appears that way. He can smash a six off the first ball; he is not out of form, but he has no runs. His way of thinking is flawed, as is his approach. "He was scoring runs, so he is not out of form," Kartik explained to Cricbuzz.

"He commands attention. He is commander and possesses an aura. He is a leader by commanding his soldiers. Every commander makes errors; yesterday, Hardik Pandya did as well; perhaps Ashish Nehra and Hardik Pandya had distinct mental processes. Similarly, Rohit can also make errors, but his commanding position is distinct. Okay, he has 313 runs, but some players perform better in important games," Kartik added.

In the elimination match in Chennai, Rohit won the toss and elected to bat.
