Jonny Bairstow buzzed at 'utter chaos' 38 hours to reach for 2023 WC warm-up vs India
England's star batter Jonny Bairstow expressed his frustration as England's journey to India for the World Cup extended to more than 38 hours.
Jonny Bairstow, the star wicketkeeper-batsman for England, conveyed his displeasure with the team's over 38-hour journey to India for the eagerly anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup. The team led by Jos Buttler began their journey to participate in the marquee event on Wednesday.
Bairstow vented on his official social media account that his team was still on the aircraft, despite having left England more than 38 hours ago.
On his Instagram story, the 34-year-old shared a photo of the England squad and its members. In addition, he described the voyage as "complete chaos" and concluded with an emoji of a smiling face by saying, "Last leg approaching... quite the journey." After stating that it was 21:21 local time, he added, "38 hours and counting..." However, England arrived in India this morning (Sept. 29).
England To Start World Cup Campaign With Warm Up Match Against India
On September 30 and October 2, England will play two warm-up matches against India and Bangladesh, respectively. Both contests will be played at Barspara Stadium in Guwahati. On October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the defending champions will commence their World Cup campaign against New Zealand, which will be a rematch of the 2019 World Cup final.
The team coached by Matthew Mott will look to conclude their practice sessions with victories in the warm-up matches. Notably, the defending champions rank fifth in the globe, behind South Africa, India, Pakistan, and Australia.
Eight of England's nine matches are played in numerous cities, including Kolkata, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Mumbai. Chennai and Hyderabad are the only two locations England will not visit during their nine group-stage contests.
