India faces South Africa in the 37th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which takes place at Eden Gardens. Significantly, today holds dual importance, as it signifies the 35th birthday of cricketing prodigy Virat Kohli, who, should he score a century in the One-Day Internationals, brings his total to 49, an equaling of the extraordinary feat accomplished by Sachin Tendulkar.

Eden Gardens was embellished with vibrant hues to create an ambiance that is charged with intensity. Young supporters flocked to Virat prior to the match, exchanging heartfelt greetings and reminiscing with the cricketing legend.

According to former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh, Virat Kohli is in an ideal position to surpass 49 centuries on a more grand scale. Harbhajan provided reassurance that Kohli would remain undeterred despite approaching the century mark in the ICC World Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka.

"As expected, he will bat in this manner; Virat Kohli is behaving in a manner consistent with his persona; he is not attempting to do otherwise." He is cognizant of his game strategy. Although the supporters were dismayed that the century had not arrived, he will remain unfazed. "He is certain that (49th) century will occur eventually, and most likely on a larger stage than this one," Harbhajan said on the Star Sports post-match program.

I don’t think he is thinking too much about 49th century: Rahul Dravid

Kohli maintains his concentration on making a meaningful contribution to India's endeavors in their World Cup group match against South Africa.

Kohli, according to head coach Rahul Dravid, is more concerned with the success of the team. In the most recent World Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka, he was dismissed for 88, falling short by 12 runs and preventing himself from matching Sachin Tendulkar's ODI century record.

"He has always maintained a professional demeanor, worked diligently, and was always engaged. Thus, not much differs. Furthermore, I doubt he is overly preoccupied with the years 49 and 50, and certainly not with the fact that his birthday will approach its annihilation. However, he has been extremely focused on winning the tournament and performing well for us in cricket. Dravid expressed his belief in his exceptional performance during a press conference.
