India's head coach for Ireland series annonced
India will play three T20I against Ireland starting from August 18 under the captionship of Jasprit Bumrah.
Sitanshu Kotak has been named as India's head coach for the upcoming series against Ireland. India's regular coaching staff has been rested in preparation for upcoming competitions such as the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup. Therefore, the squad will not be assisted by head coach Rahul Dravid, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, or batting coach Vikram Rathour.
India will tour Ireland for three T20 Internationals beginning on August 18, 2023. National Cricket Academy (NCA) director VVS Laxman was initially slated to serve as the team's interim head coach. The former notable batsman has elected to remain in Bengaluru for the Emerging camp.
Sitanshu Kotak, the NCA's batting coach, has been granted the opportunity to fill in during Dravid and company's absence. Having served as the A-team's head coach for a number of years, Kotak has some experience in the position.
When Jasprit Bumrah was declared entirely fit to play and selected as the team's captain for the T20Is against Ireland, it was likely one of the biggest reliefs for the Indian cricket team, given their injury woes.
Team India's ODI season is about to enter a crucial three-month span, and it appears that the ace pacer has returned just in time. In addition to him, Prasidh Krishna may be another bowler the Indian team would want to keep a watch on and possibly bring to the Asia Cup as a reserve.
Regarding the Ireland series, Bumrah will command a relatively inexperienced team. After proving their value in the Indian Premier League 2023, a number of young players have earned a spot on the roster. The three-game series will be an opportunity for the young players to leave their impression on the team's future, as well as a chance for several players to return to the senior squad.
