Another tale of ecstasy and anguish occurred on Sunday night in Ahmedabad. While Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) erupted in jubilant celebration after Rinku Singh pulled off a stunning heist in the last over, smashing five consecutive sixes to seal the team's 205-run chase in IPL 2023 match, Gujarat Titans pacer Yash Dayal, whose deliveries were smashed around the park, was left numb before covering his face in dismay. Rinku disclosed later that he had contacted his "friend" Yash after the match.

It was a night of valiant efforts by Rinku. When KKR were down to seven wickets following Rashid Khan's historic hat-trick and needed 29 runs off the final six balls, Rinku went into God mode in the final over, striking Yash for five consecutive sixes.

After Umesh Yadav placed Rinku on strike with a single, Yash erred in length on the first three deliveries he faced against him. Before David Miller and Rashid raced in to discuss strategies for the final two throws, all three full tosses had been thrown for touchdowns. Yash slowed down with the shorter deliveries on both occasions, and Rinku smashed both of them for sixes over long on.

The two have shared the Uttar Pradesh dressing room in numerous domestic fixtures.

"I texted Yash after the game and told him that losing happens in cricket and that he had a great year last year; I was just trying to motivate him a bit," the KKR star revealed.

Not only had Rinku shown support for Yash, but the entire KKR organization had tweeted to encourage Yash to bounce back firmly in the next match despite their wild celebrations.

"Keep your chin up, young man. Even the greatest cricket players occasionally experience a difficult day at work. They had tweeted, "You're a champion, Yash, and you'll come back strong."
