'Don't sledge anyone upfront. It's not in my habit': Naveen-ul-Haq

After the bitter exchange with India's star, Virat Kohli, Naveen-ul-Haq stirred up more controversy with a new statement.

'Don't sledge anyone upfront. It's not in my habit': Naveen-ul-Haq

Earlier this month, controversy erupted in the 2023 Indian Premier League when India's star batter Virat Kohli had a violent altercation on the field with Lucknow Super Giants pacer Naveen-ul-Haq. Following the game, Kohli collided with erstwhile India teammate Gautam Gambhir, with whom he had a heated exchange until their respective teammates separated them. Since then, both Naveen and Kohli have been posting cryptic Instagram stories that followers believe are directed at each other.

Amidst the exchanges on social media, the Lucknow Super Giants posted a video of their pacers Naveen and Avesh Khan having a light-hearted conversation in which they discuss their time at LSG and certain cricketing anecdotes.

Avesh opens a note containing a query about whether Naveen sledged someone on the field during the conversation. This month's incident against the Royal Challengers Bangalore appears to be the cause of the pair's laughter. However, Naveen asserted that he had never slandered a person "upfront."

"It's not in my nature to insult someone immediately; it's not my custom." There is an incident from a game of the highest level. I was on the non-strike side when the batter on strike was hit by a pitch. The fielder stationed at ridiculous point was newlywed. He said, "This is the last wicket, so let's wrap this up quickly; I have work to complete at home, and I just got married yesterday. This was a humorous occurrence," Naveen recalls in the video.

The LSG are presently fifth in the standings with five wins and the same number of losses in eleven games. Rain canceled their match against the Chennai Super Kings in Lucknow earlier this month. The Royal Challengers Bangalore are just one point behind the Super Giants in sixth place, with five wins and six defeats.
