Bangladesh to host New Zealand for three ODIs before World Cup
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has unveiled a complete schedule for the Blackcaps' tour, comprising both One Day Internationals and Test matches.
New Zealand is preparing for a long-awaited tour to Bangladesh, which is significant because it will be the first time since 2013 that the two teams will compete. The white-ball series, comprising of three ODIs, will serve as a warm-up for the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023. As such, it is of vital importance for both teams as they fine-tune their strategies in preparation for the marquee event.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced the full itinerary for the Blackcaps' upcoming tour, which includes both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Test matches. After the conclusion of the World Cup, the Test phase of the series, which will be part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle, is scheduled for November and December.
"The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the schedule for New Zealand's upcoming tour, which will consist of three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Tests and will be contested either side of the ICC Cricket World Cup India 2023.
After 2013, this is New Zealand's first ODI and Test series in Bangladesh. The Tests are part of the 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship and represent Bangladesh's first WTC series in the new cycle, according to a BCB statement.
The tour is scheduled to begin on September 21 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur with the first ODI. The remaining one-day internationals are scheduled for September at the same location. As for the Test matches, the dates are set for late November and early December, although the exact venues have not yet been determined.
Notably, the Blackcaps will play a significant role in the 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. Their campaign commences on October 5 in Ahmedabad against the defending world champions, England. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will begin their voyage against Afghanistan in Dharamsala on October 7.
