Ashes 2023: Police catches Lord's pitch invader
The protestor was part of the ‘Just Stop Oil’ environmental action group, as he was seen spreading orange powder.
Australia and England squared off in the second Ashes Test on June 28 at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London. During the beginning of the game, however, spectators and players witnessed a rather peculiar moment in which a pitch invader disrupted play to announce his presence on the field.
However, according to the most recent information, the pitch infiltrator was apprehended by police immediately after the incident, who were seen escorting him out of the London venue. The protestor was a member of the environmental action group 'Just Stop Oil', as he was seen dispersing orange powder before being tackled and removed by England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow and stewards.
The Metropolitan Police have verified that two additional protesters have been arrested. "We are aware that there are protestors on the Lord's Cricket Ground pitch today, June 28. The police have apprehended and detained three individuals," the Police tweeted on their official social media account.
The coalition of environmental action organizations known as 'Just Stop Oil' took responsibility for their actions and emphasized that they were fighting for not only the license for new oil, but also the ongoing climate crisis.
