Ashes 2023: England should go four seamers- Nasser Hussain
England are currently behind in the ongoing Ashes series (0-1) heading into the Lord's Test after suffering an agonizingly two-wicket defeat at Edgbaston.
The second Ashes Test between Australia and England will commence at Lord's on June 28. After suffering a narrow loss in the first Test at Edgbaston, England is considering a change in strategy to recover and level the series. Mark Wood and Chris Woakes are being considered as possible Moeen Ali replacements, with an emphasis on utilizing Joe Root's effective part-time spin.
Nasser Hussain, the former captain of England, advocated for Wood's inclusion, citing his success against Australia in their previous encounter in 2021/22. Wood emerged as England's highest wicket-taker in that series.
Woakes, who has not played a Test since March 2022, has a remarkable record in five appearances at Lord's. The 34-year-old all-rounder has 27 wickets at an average of 11.33 and 306 runs at an astounding average of 61.2 on this historic ground.
"He (Wood) would likely need to replace Moeen and you'd have to use Joe Root as your spinner, so use four seamers or Chris Woakes." Chris Woakes has a successful track record at Lord's, which would benefit the batting and add another all-rounder. Moeen Ali must choose between Woakes and Wood.ICC quoted Hussain as saying that this choice would give England more depth in both the batting and bowling departments.
They want to triumph, but they also want their cricket to be entertaining: Hussain
England are presently trailing (0-1) in the ongoing Ashes series heading into the Lord's Test after a two-wicket loss at Edgbaston. However, the team has had an outstanding year, winning 11 of 14 Tests under the stewardship of captain Ben Stokes.

Surprisingly, after losing the first Ashes Test, captain Ben Stokes stated that his team's 'Bazball' style of cricket is more concerned with entertaining the audience than achieving victory every time. However, this did not sit well with some cricket enthusiasts and experts. However, former England captain Nasser Hussain believes the Stokes-led side will prevail in the Ashes Test series.
"They definitely want to win, as do all England fans, but they also want them to play attractive cricket," Hussain explained.
