The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced its 15-man squad for the ACC Men's Emerging Asia Cup 2023, which will be contested in Sri Lanka the following month.

Soumya Sarkar, who was cut from the national team, was added to the 15-man Bangladesh A squad that will compete in the eight-nation tournament. The left-handed batsman played his final match for Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup against Pakistan in November 2022. Sarkar's performance in all aspects of the game has been dismal. Last season, he was also cut from his club team, Mohammedan Sporting Club, in the Dhaka Premier League due to poor play.

The ACC Men's Emerging Asia Cup will provide Sarkar with an opportunity to revitalize his career. Sarkar has played in 16 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 72 T20Is, making him the most experienced player in the squad.

Saif Hassan was appointed team captain
