The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has appointed Mo Bobat as Director of Cricket. Bobat and RCB head coach Andy Flower had previously collaborated with England, and they will now attempt to do the same for RCB. Bobat will be responsible for all talent recruitment and performance strategies at RCB, laying the cultural and high-performance foundations for the organization's long-term success.

Bobat, the director of England Men's Performance, will leave the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to pursue a new position in February 2024. In 2011, Bobat joined the ECB. He has been responsible for administering the England team's route for the past four years, identifying, developing, and preparing the team's talent pool in all game formats.

During his tenure as Performance Director, England won both the ICC Men's World Cup (2019) and the ICC Men's T20 World Cup (2022), making them a double world champion in ICC (International Cricket Council) events. Before becoming the first Player Identification Lead for the ECB in 2016, he oversaw the England Men's Under-19s program.

Mo Bobat expresses gratitute towards England Cricket Board

"I've had the most incredible 12 years at the ECB, and it's been both an honor and a privilege to serve as Performance Director for the past four. Supporting our efforts in multiple Ashes campaigns and World Cups has been a fantasy come true. Bobat stated, "I'll be eternally grateful for the opportunities and support I've received over the years, and I'll carry with me many special memories, shared accomplishments, and friendships."

"I'd like to acknowledge all of my current and former colleagues, as well as every player I've had the pleasure of spending time with. I'd like to thank Rob Key in particular for the trust he has shown me over the past 18 months and for facilitating my desired transition to my new professional challenge. "When the time comes, I'll leave with the heaviest of hearts, but I'll be proud to know that our international pathway is thriving and filled with exceptional individuals," he added.

"We are thrilled to welcome Mo Bobat as Director of Cricket for the RCB in the IPL. RCB has always prioritized a performance-oriented approach and fostering a culture that embodies its 'playbold' ethos. Prathmesh Mishra, Chief Commercial Officer, Diageo India, and Chairman of RCB, stated, "Bobat has already demonstrated his abilities in a similar role with England, and I am confident that, with his expertise and years of experience, he will lead RCB to greater heights and excellence."
