World Cup 2023: Sourav Ganguly predicts semi-finalists.Check out
He hopes Pakistan makes it to the next round so that the fans can enjoy India versus Pakistan classic thriller.
Former captain Sourav Ganguly believes that Australia, England, and India are the favorites to qualify for the semi-finals of the upcoming One-Day International World Cup, which will commence on October 5. He added that one should never count New Zealand out of the equation and that he hopes Pakistan advances to the next round so that the fans can experience a classic thriller between India and Pakistan.
Notably, if India is scheduled to play Pakistan in the semi-finals, the match will be contested in Sourav's hometown of Kolkata at the Eden Gardens. Consequently, he remains enthusiastic about the possibility of an India versus Pakistan match at the iconic Eden Gardens.
It is very difficult to tell. Australia, Great Britain, India. Never undervalue New Zealand in these major matches. I will choose five, including Pakistan. Ganguly was quoted by RevSportz as saying, "Pakistan better qualify so that we can have the India-Pakistan semi-final at the Eden Gardens (laughs)".
Ganguly discusses India's failure in prestigious tournaments.
The former cricketer believes that there is no mental strain on the Indian players because they are so mentally strong, but he added that they have performed poorly in high-pressure situations. He added that the squad will be under some pressure because the tournament is being held in India, but that he believes the players can handle it.
There will always be pressure. When they had played previously, there was also strain. Rohit Sharma scored five centuries during the previous ODI World Cup. I'm confident there was pressure on him back then as well. Pressure is not a concern. They will surely find a means to succeed. When Rahul Dravid was a player, he was under strain to perform, and now that he is the head coach, he is under pressure to deliver. This will persist, and I do not believe that duress is an issue.

Occasionally, we perform poorly during crucial phases. I do not believe it is mental stress, but rather a matter of execution. They are mentally robust individuals. Ganguly added, "Hopefully, they will cross the finish line soon."
