World Cup 2023: PCB agrees for schedule change India vs Pakistan on October 14
The much awaited arch rivalry match of World Cup 2023 between India and Pakistan have been rescheduled to October 14.
The highly anticipated 2023 Cricket World Cup match between India and Pakistan has been rescheduled for October 14. The competition will continue to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In addition, the ICC has not yet released the revised schedule for the major event.
According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has agreed to the schedule change. In addition to the match against India, Pakistan's match against Sri Lanka has been shifted from October 12 to October 10. As per the original schedule, the contest will take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The India-Pakistan clash, which was originally scheduled for October 15, had to be moved because it conflicted with the first day of the Hindu festival Navaratri, and the police feared they could not provide adequate security on that date. The ICC recently apprised the PCB of the revisions, and the Pakistan cricket board agreed, according to a report on ESPNCricinfo.
Jay Shah, secretary of the BCCI, stated, contrary to rumours, that the change has nothing to do with the Navaratri festival. Last week, several ICC Full Member nations requested alterations to the World Cup schedule, and alterations were made accordingly.
The rescheduling of the India-Pakistan match will have repercussions for other games and teams, as October 14 is already a doubleheader with matches between Bangladesh and New Zealand in Chennai and Afghanistan and England in Delhi. The second contest is anticipated to take place a day earlier (October 13).
India is scheduled to host the upcoming ODI World Cup from October 5 to November 19. England and New Zealand will play the tournament's opening match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. On October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the team led by Rohit Sharma will begin their World Cup campaign against the five-time champions Australia.
