The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has constituted a sub-committee for site inspection and infrastructure subsidies ahead of the 2023 World Cup, which is set to begin on October 5. The new information has already been communicated to state officials, and work on the entire procedure is scheduled to begin very shortly.
Notably, the BCCI did not engage new personnel because the five office bearers - President Roger Binny, Secretary Jay Shah, Treasurer Ashish Sehlar, Vice President Rajeev Shukla, and joint Secretary Devajit Saikia - will handle the full venue inspection process.
On the other side, infrastructure subsidies will be granted by IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal, former treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry, former Apex Council member Prabhtej Bhatia, and Karnataka State Cricket Association Secretary A Shankar, as well as the five office bearers.
Meanwhile, the office bearers have divided the locations they will check. Roger Binny, the current president and a 1983 World Cup winner, will oversee the development of Ahmedabad and Chennai.
Notably, the tournament opening, the India versus Pakistan matchup, and the all-important final will all take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As a result, it is regarded as the most essential World Cup venue.
On the other side, Mumbai and Kolkata will host the competition's semi-finals, and joint secretary Devajit Saikia has been assigned responsibility for these two locations, as well as Trivandrum, which will host a few warm-up games.
Meanwhile, secretary Jay Shah will be in charge of Delhi and Dharamshala, vice-president Rajeev Shukla of Hyderabad and Bengaluru, and treasurer Ashish Sehlar of Pune, Lucknow, and Guwahati, the latter of which will only hold warm-up matches.
