Matthew Wade to lead Australia Squad for T20 series against India
Matthew Wade will lead Australian squad for five T20 series against India starting from November 23.
Cricket Australia (CA) has released a fourteen-man squad for the five-match T20I series against India, which will start on November 23. Because of the rest periods of several prominent players, wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade has been named series captain.
The squad comprises Adam Zampa, David Warner, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, and Marcus Stoinis. Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh, and Pat Cummins will all return to their respective countries following the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Matthew Wade has assumed the interim captaincy since February Australia has been without a permanent T20 captain. Since the T20 World Cup, Wade has not participated in international cricket. However, he was called upon as a substitute for the series against South Africa.

George Bailey, the principal selector of the Australian cricket team, emphasised the leadership qualities and prior experience of Matthew Wade in his capacity as captain. Bailey made a comparison to the stewardship demonstrated by Mitch Marsh in the South Africa series.
"Matthew, who is a leader in the group and has previously captained the team, is eager to assume leadership responsibilities for this series." Bailey remarked, "Like Mitch Marsh in the South Africa series, this is an additional fantastic opportunity to expand our depth and experience in international leadership."
