India will start its World Cup 2023 journey on October 8,Sunday against five time champions Australia.
On October 5, 2023, the Cricket World Cup 2023 will begin at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with the previous tournament's finalists England and New Zealand facing off in the opening match. India will begin their campaign on Sunday, October 8 against Australia, a five-time champion.
While eight teams have already qualified for the mega-event, the results of the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers will see two more teams advance. As of the conclusion of the tournament on July 9, the final two places will be filled.
The World Cup will be contested in a round-robin format where each team will compete against the other nine teams for a spot in the top four. Four teams will advance to the knockout round and play in the semi-final. England will enter the competition as the defending champions, while Australia is still the most successful team in ODI World Cup history.
The match between archrivals India and Pakistan, which will be contested at the world's largest stadium - the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, October 15 - will be the most anticipated match for almost every cricket fan. Notably, all of India's matches will start at 2:00 p.m.
