Fans in Delhi witnessed the influence of batting sensation Virat Kohli of the India National Cricket Team on the Afghanistan National Cricket Team as they supported pacer Naveen-ul-Haq of the AFG during the ENG vs. AFG match of the ICC World Cup 2023.
Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq resolved their dispute on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, during the ninth match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 between India and Afghanistan.
Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq's rivalry began in 2023, during the Indian Premier League (IPL). A dispute of words ensued between the two individuals during an ISL match involving the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Following the contentious exchange, wherever Naveen performed in India, he was inundated with 'Kohli Kohli' chanting.
During the IND vs AFG match in Delhi, the audience was also unkind, mocking the pacer with 'Kohli Kohli' chants. Nevertheless, Kohli cautioned the audience against teasing the fast bowler, and the two were subsequently observed hugging and shaking hands during the match.
Although the Delhi crowd's reception of Naveen-ul-Haq was not particularly hostile, they did initially mock the pacer with a few instances of "Kohli-Kohli." That, however, altered when he dismissed England's captain Jos Buttler with a magnificent delivery while bowling.
