WC 2023: England World Cup 2023 Schedule, Time Table, Timings, Dates, Venues Details
England will kick off World Cup 2023 journey against New Zealand on Thursday October 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced the schedule for the impending ODI World Cup 2023 after a lengthy wait. The highly anticipated tournament is scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with the defending champions England facing the 2015 and 2019 finalists, New Zealand.
With Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes out of the lineup, the defending champions led by Jos Buttler will have a difficult time defending their title. After a disastrous summer in white-ball cricket, Morgan decided to retire from the sport, whereas Stokes, desiring to devote more time to red-ball and T20I cricket, gave up on ODIs.
England nevertheless possesses a formidable team capable of competing for the reward. Jos Buttler has scored numerous runs on Indian soil and is currently one of the most prolific run-scorers in the world of cricket. In addition to him, players such as Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Alex Hales, and Jonny Bairstow pose a significant threat to the opposition.
Bowling, on the other hand, appears somewhat shaky, particularly since Jofra Archer is currently injured and unavailable. Chris Woakes, David Willey, and Reece Topley will need to assume some responsibility, but none of them have yet made a significant impact on Indian soil. Consequently, it remains a major concern prior to the major occasion.
Notably, on November 4, the Three Lions will host their archrivals Australia in Ahmedabad. Their other matches will take place in Dharamshala (against Bangladesh on October 10), Delhi (against Afghanistan on October 14), Mumbai (against South Africa on October 21), Bengaluru (against Qualifier 2 on October 26), Pune (against Qualifier 1 on November 8) and Kolkata (against Pakistan on November 12).
After the conclusion of the group stage, the four teams with the most points in the World Cup standings will advance to the semi-finals in Mumbai and Kolkata, respectively.
