Pakistan allowed for 2023 ODI World Cup participation

Pakistan has eventually confirmed their participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, after much hesitation. Notably, following India's refusal to participate in the Asia Cup in Pakistan, the PCB issued numerous statements indicating that the Babar Azam-led team would not travel to the Indian subcontinent for the World Cup if BCCI did not change its position. As a result, there have been numerous discussions about the Asia Cup situation since it was ultimately resolved.

Since then, the PCB was anticipated to confirm Pakistan's participation in the World Cup, but it took some time to reach a conclusion. The organisation led by Zaka Ashraf dispatched a security team to India to inspect the grounds, and based on their report, the Pakistani government permitted the team to travel to the prestigious tournament.

New Chic

"Pakistan has consistently maintained that athletics and politics should not be mixed. "It has therefore decided to send its cricket team to India to compete in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup," the Foreign Office said in a statement released on Sunday.

The statement continued, "Pakistan's decision demonstrates its constructive and responsible approach vis- -vis India's intransigent attitude, as India had refused to send its Cricket Team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup."

Pakistan's ODI World Cup schedule is still unknown

According to the initial BCCI schedule, Pakistan were scheduled to play their first match against the Netherlands on October 6. However, the date of the match may be altered. Notably, the marquee match between India and Pakistan was scheduled to take place on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, but due to Navratri, it is likely to be moved up to October 14, and the re-released schedule may reflect this change.

Kolkata Police has informed the Cricket Association of Bengal that it may be difficult for them to manage such a high-stakes match on Diwali night. This casts doubt on Pakistan's match against England on November 12th. Therefore, multiple Pakistani matches may be altered in the future days.
