Waqar Younis hits back at Sourav Ganguly for his view on IND-PAK matches
Team India led by Rohit Sharma will take off against Pakistan under Babar Azam on September 2 in Asia Cup 2023.
Throughout the years, the India versus Pakistan matches have produced some of the greatest moments in the history of cricket. On the pitch, we have witnessed some intense moments between the players. However, sometimes the verbal conflict extends beyond the playing field.
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly recently stated that recent India versus Pakistan matches have not lived up to their billing. According to the legendary cricketer, India have defeated their archrivals more frequently and convincingly than any other team. Ganguly believes that India vs. Australia matches in the World Cup are significantly more intriguing due to the fact that the 'quality is higher'.
"There is a lot of buzz surrounding this match, but the quality hasn't been all that great for a long time because India has been dominating lopsidedly. In the T20 World Cup in Dubai, Pakistan likely defeated India for the first occasion.
Ganguly was quoted by Star Sports as saying, "India did not play well in that tournament (2021 T20 WC), but India vs. Australia tends to be a better World Cup matchup due to the higher quality of play."
Another cricket luminary, Waqar Younis, criticised Ganguly for his frank comments regarding India-Pakistan matches. The former Pakistani captain opined that the magnitude of India versus Pakistan contests is so great that individual opinions have little significance.

"I refuse to comment on that. I feel that our performances have been of high quality. In the 2021 T20 World Cup, Pakistan won a fairly one-sided contest. However, the ones we lost were also relatively close. Therefore, you can assert whatever you want, India vs. Pakistan matches are the largest in the world. "When the stakes are that high, no one's opinion really matters," Younis said in a paktv.tv-posted video.
