VVS Laxman will not be travelling with team India for Ireland series
India will play three matches T20I series against Ireland starting from August from 18 under the caption Jasprit Bumrah.
The upcoming three-match T20I series between India and Ireland will commence on Friday, August 18 and will feature three matches. The Indian team will depart for Dublin on August 15, and recent developments indicate that VVS Laxman, the head of the coaching staff, will not be travelling with the squad for the series.
Since head coach Rahul Dravid and the majority of the coaching staff are in the United States for the ongoing T20I series between India and the West Indies, VVS Laxman was expected to travel to Ireland with team India for the three-match series.
A recent alteration in plans, however, suggests that this will not be the case. In place of Laxman, support staff members Sitanshu Kotak and Sairaj Bahutule will accompany the team during the series.
India will be led by Jasprit Bumrah against Ireland
Recently, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) announced the Indian team that will travel to Ireland for the T20I series. The renowned pacer Jasprit Bumrah will head the team in Dublin, it was announced.
Bumrah has been eliminated from selection contention for quite some time. In 2022, the 29-year-old sustained a stress fracture in his lower back, causing him to miss the Asia Cup 2022, the T20 World Cup 2022, the Border Gavaskar Trophy, the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the World Test Championship.
His return to cricket would be fantastic news for India, as the 50-over Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023 are quickly approaching. Bumrah would considerably bolster India's impressive arsenal of pacers.
Bumrah's inclusion in the World Cup squad could go a long way for team India, and with the Rohit Sharma-led side opening their World Cup campaign against Australia in Chennai, it will be fascinating to see how Bumrah's inclusion aids them in the marquee event.
