The IPL 2023 season has been dominated by batsmen. Amidst a multitude of 200-plus scores that have been easily chased down, batters have been routinely reaching the century mark. Prabhsimran Singh joined the elite list on Saturday during Punjab Kings' match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The season has already seen five centurions, two of whom are uncapped Indians. With his score of 103 off 65, he remained the lone combatant for his team as Punjab amassed 167 for seven. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri subsequently presented Prabhsimran with a token of appreciation.

Punjab required something extraordinary as they were reduced to three down in the powerplay at night. Prabhsimran was still present, but he struggled to find his rhythm as he scored 27 runs off 31 balls. On Saturday, however, when the team needed his services the most, he stepped up and accelerated his stroke. In the following 34 balls, he scored 76 runs to attain his first IPL century. It was a stroke containing ten fours and six sixes.

Sam Curran, who scored 20 runs off 24 balls, was the second-best batter for PBKS after his 103-run hit propelled the team's total to 167 for seven.

He joined the likes of Virender Sehwag and KL Rahul as the twelfth batsman from PBKS to record a century. He also became the sixth youngest batter to achieve an IPL century at 22 years and 276 days.

Moments after Prabhsimran's massive innings, former India all-rounder Shastri took to Twitter to share a post worth a million dollars about Prabhsimran and how the IPL has provided the ideal platform for young uncapped players to showcase their talent. He tweeted, "Outstanding performance on a difficult pitch. Admirable pace for a bat. @IPL Zindabad. What a venue for young people to exhibit their talent!

"I planned to take my time and seize on the loose ball in order to score. As the season began, I aimed to make it a successful one. The pitch was difficult for batting, but simpler for set batsmen. Even in amateur cricket, I celebrate in this manner. The celebration was to express gratitude to the management. On this pitch, it was simple for me to play speed bowlers because the balls were in my zone. "We were aiming for 170 and came close," he said during the conversation between innings.
